Scope and Contents
Reports, correspondence, pamphlets and administrative records concerning YWCA of the U.S.A. associations in New Britain and Meriden, Connecticut and a visitation report assessing the possibility of organizing an association in the Naugatuck Valley. Documents include visitation reports assessing association needs, leadership and program, correspondence concerning association cooperation with the YMCA in Meriden, residence surveys and pamphlets, lists of leaders and correspondence concerning the use of buildings, leadership and management of the associations and local situations needing attention. Also included are the association's' governing documents, applications for affiliation, fact sheets and historical summaries.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
