Scope and Contents

Reports, administrative records and correspondence concerning the YWCA of Evansville, Indiana's history, management, administration, finance, building and studies. Documents include constitutions and bylaws, historical summaries and fact sheets, a residence survey, correspondence concerning donations and finances, and lists of professional and volunteer leadership. Studies are conducted and used to inform program and services decisions in addition to gathering information about the community served by the association and other service organizations. Studies include a survey of Evansville's social and welfare organizations, studies of the African American community and services available to them, a community study of Evansville and a survey of the association.

From the Record Group: This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
