Scope and Contents

Administrative records, leadership directories, reports and documents concerning the finance, Business and Professional Department and Industrial Department of the YWCA of Baltimore, Maryland. In order to inform decisions, improve program and improve services, the YWCA of Baltimore, like the YWCA of the U.S.A. and its associations, conducts careful studies of its environment in addition to making use of studies conducted by other community organizations. The studies are then compiled into reports containing narrative and quantitative assessments. Reports included in the associations files concern program and service assessments, community needs, association finance and structure, wages of YWCA employees and employment for women post World War II. Outside studies include a study of the African American community of Baltimore and a study of the relationship between community chests, local members and national organizations. Other documents include correspondence and reports of the Industrial and Business and Professional Departments of the YWCA of Baltimore, governing documents of the association, association historical notes and governing documents.
