Scope and Contents

Letters concerning the development of a YWCA of the U.S.A. association in Catskill, New York and documents concerning the YWCA of Chautauqua County and its northern, western and southern districts. The YWCA of Chautauqua County serves the varied needs of the women and girls of the county through programs, services and facilities. Branch or district associations in its northern, western and southern districts have an unclear relationship to the county association. Correspondence with the National Services Division of the YWCA of the U.S.A. and other national leaders attempts to sort out the administrative relationship between the associations and their purpose and functions. Historical notes and summaries provide background information on the communities and the development of the associations. Additional documents include visitation reports, administrative records, a county study and documents concerning the association's' relationship to the YMCA.
