Scope and Contents

Reports of studies of the social agencies and population statistics in Rochester, New York. The results of the studies are used for social planning and to assess the needs of the community. The first report, "A Study of the Community Chest and Council of Social Agencies of Rochester, New York; also a Study of Seven Surveys from the Community Organization Standpoint," uses existing and gathered information to assess existing social and health agencies in Rochester. The report includes assessments of financial support and, types of services and makes recommendations based on its findings. Following this report are a series of four reports from the Council of Social Agencies that study the population statistics of Rochester. The first two reports use data from the 1940 United States census to display population statistics by tract. The third report uses original data to explore social problems and their geographic distribution throughout the city and the fourth study compiles information tracking the mobility of residents of Rochester.
