Scope and Contents

Documents concerning the YWCA of Rochester, New York and its Caledonia and Clarissa branches. Visitation reports describe and assess the association's program, leadership, activities, facilities and services. Other documents concerning the YWCA of Rochester include correspondence concerning their relationship with the YMCA in Rochester, the sixtieth annual report of the association, course outlines for the Women's Crusade for Human Rights, reports from a volunteer leadership training course and correspondence with regional and national leadership. Bylaws and for the branches establish their functions and administrative structure. Additional documents concerning the Clarissa branch include lists of professional and volunteer leadership and a completed residence survey.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
