Scope and Contents

Documents concerning affiliated and developing YWCA of the U.S.A. associations in Texas arranged alphabetically by town beginning with the Lower Rio Grande District YWCA and ending with San Angelo. For affiliated associations documents include administrative records, historical notes, visitation reports and advisory correspondence with regional and national leaders. In cases where associations cease operations, documents include correspondence, reports and administrative records concerning their disaffiliation in addition to documents concerning the active organization. Documents for those communities with new associations or interest in forming an association include letters of inquiry and visitation reports from field secretaries. Two district associations, the Lower Rio Grande Valley and Oil Belt districts, are included in the materials. District associations represent several towns or counties that are otherwise unable to maintain individually affiliated associations.
