Scope and Contents
Documents concerning the programs, leadership and history of the YWCA of San Antonio's international institute and Pine Street branch. The International Institute of the YWCA of San Antonio is designed to meet the unique needs of the foreign born women of San Antonio and their families and the Pine Street branch is the YWCA of San Antonio's club for its African American members. Documents from each branch include discussion of the relationship with the central association, race relations within the association and community and assessments of branch programs and leaders. Visitation reports and correspondence report on the branches and the branch's bylaws establish purpose, function and relationship to the central association.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
