Scope and Contents

Documents concerning the work of the YWCA of the U.S.A. in the state of Wisconsin, the history, affiliation and program of the YWCA of Beloit and the development of association activity in Ashland. Preceding the start of community files are documents concerning the state of Wisconsin. These include the corporation laws for the state, reports to the Rural Communities Department of the YWCA of the U.S.A. and state visitation reports. Also included are programs, reports and minutes of early state conference of Young Women's Christian Associations prior to the start of the YWCA of the U.S.A. The administrative and organizational history of the YWCA of Beloit are documented in their constitutions, bylaws, fact sheets and historical notes. Additionally, building and finance documents address the administrative and operational side of those functions including relationships with the community chest. Visitation reports and industrial program reports are more narrative in nature and include assessments and descriptions of program activities, membership and the overall performance of the association. The association's work with foreign born women and the community needs are summarized in a community survey and report. Additional documents concerning the YWCA of Beloit include general secretary reports, lists of staff and volunteer leaders, their report of the standards study and advisory correspondence with regional and national leadership.
