Scope and Contents

Documents concerning the work of the YWCA of the U.S.A. associations in Georgia followed by documents concerning the program, administration and development of associations in Athens, Atlanta and Augusta and finally, the 1952-1953 annual report of a registered association in Barnesville. The administration and development of the Athens, Atlanta and Augusta associations is documented in basic standards reports, national certification documents, constitutions, bylaws and reports of the special administration study project. Visitation reports include program descriptions, reports of challenges and successes, and discussion of personnel and management need.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
