Scope and Contents

Documents concerning the work of the YWCA of the U.S.A. and its associations in Michigan arranged alphabetically by city or town covering Adrian through Coldwater. Council of Michigan YWCA's minutes and reports and documents concerning work throughout the state are followed by documents concerning associations in Battle Creek and Bay County, registered Y-Teen clubs in Algonac, Belleville, and Chesaning, and inquiry into new organization in Adrian, Berkley, and Coldwater, and correspondence concerning Ann Arbor YM-YWCA attendance at convention. The program, administration, and development of the two affiliated associations is documented in basic standards reports, administrative documents, constitutions, bylaws, visitation reports, and general correspondence and reports concerning program, facilities and operations.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.

However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
