Scope and Contents
Documents concerning the history, development, program and administration of the YWCA of Detroit, Michigan. Basic standards reports, constitutions, and bylaws record the administrative history and structure of the organization. A seventy fifth anniversary pamphlet gives an overview of the development of the association and its program. Following these documents are reports of two studies of YWCA of Detroit program. The first is an analysis of an experimental counseling program at a YWCA residence. The report provides history and background to the project, evaluates the outcomes and makes recommendations for the future. The second study is a review of the YW-Wives program.

This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections.
However, by agreement with the YWCA of the U.S.A., microdexes known to contain financial records or personal health information (usually on job applications) were not digitized and/or not published in our online repository as part of the CLIR Digitizing Hidden Collections grant. These microdexes may still be accessed on the original microfilm, and digital files may be made available to individual researchers upon request.
