Biographical Note
Dorothy Brier received an A.B. from Radcliffe in 1951 and a MSS from Smith College School for Social Work in 1954. She was a caseworker and group therapist at the Community Service Society, New York City, 1954-1960; a social worker at the League School, Brooklyn, 1960-1961; and a supervisor, caseworker, and therapist at Youth Consultation Service (Dana House), NYC, 1961-1969. She also led numerous community projects, including work as a field instructor at the Community Service Society at Fordham University, NYC, 1969-1971, and as assistant director of education and programming at the Lenox Hill Hospital social work department, NYC, 1971-1991. She taught a continuing education course at the Smith School for Social Work, 1980, and she has published articles on social work in hospitals. Brier retired in 1992.
