Scope and Contents

The Records of Sojourn consist of minutes and agendas; correspondence and memoranda; grant proposals; financial and other reports; publicity; contracts; clippings; newsletters; and photographs. The bulk of the collection is comprised of correspondence, contracts, grant applications, and reports pertaining to the many government agencies that funded Sojourn programs.

Biographical Note

Sojourn was founded in 1975 to provide rehabilitation programs and social services for adolescent delinquent women in Franklin and Hampshire counties, Massachusetts. It instituted programs designed to teach young women independent living skills; provided educational and vocational training and guidance; as well as counseling, foster care placements, and day care services. For a short time, it also ran Sojourn Farm, a residential program. The organization disbanded in 1992.
