Biographical Note
The Wonder Woman Foundation (now defunct) was founded in 1981 by Warner Communications Inc. and DC Comics Inc. to honor real life women who possess the character traits of Wonder Woman, the comic book heroine created in 1941 by William Mouton Marston. In its first year the foundation made awards to women 40 years and older for qualities of maturity and development in American women.
