Scope and Contents

The Valley Women Martial Arts Records consists of documents pertaining to daily operations of the organization, including mailing lists, public relations materials, and fundraising initiatives; information about VWMA programs and classes, including registration forms, tests and test results, and student and teacher evaluations; newsclippings, student art, correspondence; publications and information about other self-defense organizations and programs, primarily in Massachusetts but also elsewhere in the U.S.; and artwork by adults and children who participated in VWMA programs; and VWMA financial information.

Some floppy disks were unable to be copied. See the log files linked in the container list for more details.

Between September 2022 and February 2023, Smith College Special Collections renumbered many boxes to eliminate duplicate numbers within collections in order to improve researcher experience.
