Biographical Note

From 1974 to 1977, Penny Sablove was the director of the Worcester Women's Center. Atypically, the Center was not affiliated with any of the universities or colleges in this central Massachusetts city. Their mission statement declared that"Believing that women in the Worcester area do not find ourselves in a society that supports our growth, aspirations, and rights, we are an organization of women working to provide space and support for other women to come together and struggle to meet these needs with us. We are also a clearinghouse of information and resources for women in the Greater Worcester area." As part of her duties at the Center, the Clark University alumna Sablove also hosted a weekly radio show, "Women's Voice," which aired in 1975 on the radio station run by students at the University.
