Biographical Note

Miriam Sargeant Packard's family surnames include Howland, Sargeant, Packard, Hill, Peirce and Spooner. Her forebear, Richard Warren, came to America on the Mayflower. The families lived primarily in eastern Massachusetts, including New Bedford. Occupations of family members included sea captains and sailors, as well as housewives, farmers, stock brokers, realtors, and dealers in hardware and building materials.
