Biographical Note

Founded in 1991 by the National Coalition of Midwifery Educators, the Midwifery Education Accreditation Council (MEAC) serves as a non-profit and nationally recognized accrediting agency which seeks "to promote excellence in midwifery education through accreditation"(http://meacschools.org/about-meac/). Approved by the US Department of Education on a recurring basis since 1991, MEAC has helped make midwifery more accepted as it has become more professionalized.
