Biographical / Historical

While a student at Upsala College, Bob was selected by the National Student Councils of the YMCA and YWCA to be a delegate in the YMCA-YWCA group which traveled to the USSR in 1962. Coincidentally, this trip occurred shortly before the Cuban Missile Crisis. This exchange program was one of the first official student exchange programs authorized by the State Department to the Soviet Union. Foust later persued his interest in international relations as a staff member in the office of Senator Claiborne Pell and subsequently in the office of Senator Kent Conrad. After his retirement Bob taught at George Washington University.
