Biographical / Historical

Lori Hiris was born in Albany, New York, the daughter of Irene and Arno Hiris. She graduated from Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park, New York, and from Saratoga Warren BOCES (Board Of Cooperative Educational Services), in 1982. She earned her B.S. degree at the Syracuse University Newhouse School of Communications in 1986; her M.A. degree in political science from the New School for Social Research in 1994; and completed her MFA degree at Montana State University in 2009. Hiris has made numerous films, including With a Vengeance: The Fight for Reproductive Freedom, and has won many honors and awards for her work.
