The Donald J. Winslow collection consists of published and print materials on Virginia Woolf and the Bloomsbury Group with which he was associated. Winslow’s papers also contain publications of the International Virginia Woolf Society of which Winslow was a founding member.

Biographical / Historical
Donald James Winslow, a literary scholar and professor of English, was born in Auburndale, Massachusetts in 1911. He was educated at Tufts University (B.S., 1934; A.M., 1935) and at Boston University (Ph.D., 1942). He taught in the English Department at Boston University from 1939 to 1977; upon retirement he was made Professor Emeritus. Since 1960 he has also maintained an affiliation with Lasell Junior College.
Winslow’s doctoral dissertation was entitled: Thomas Hardy: His British and American Critics. In 1982 he published Thomas Hardy’s Sister Kate (Langport, England: The Thomas Hardy Society, 1982). His text Life-Writing: A Glossary of Terms in Biography, Autobiography, and Related Forms went through two editions (Honolulu: Published for the Biographical Research Center by the University Press of Hawaii, 1980; 2nd ed., 1995). He is also the author of Lasell: A History of the First Junior College for Women (Boston: Lasell Junior College, 1987).
