Scope and Contents

The collection consists of correspondence, deeds, wills, receipts and other papers of Charles, Eli and William Barrows and other members of the Barrows family of Brimfield, Monson and New Braintree, Massachusetts; Pomfret, Connecticut and Bridport, Vermont. It also includes papers of David Barker of Vermont, legal documents of Asa Godfrey of Whitingham, Vermont, and legal documents of Nicholas Holbrook of Brimfield, Massachusetts. Also included are receipts for the purchase of rum and other spirits sold to Eli Barrows of Brimfield, Massachusetts from 1845-1847, purchased from Robert M. Morse & Co., Boston. Additionally, there are letters (1799-1800) from Charles Barrows to his brother William, from Union Camp at Plainfield, New Jersey.
