Scope and Contents

The collection of approximately 50 items includes materials about Celia Thaxter and Sarah Orne Jewett, including an autograph poem and an autograph letter (1878), both signed by Thaxter. There is correspondence (much of it addressed to Martin Hutner, 1981-1982), photographic slides and postcards, booklists, and bookseller catalogues. There is also an annotated copy of the typescript of a play by Asher Moore, "Sandpaper: a visit with Celia Thaxter," with a drawing of the stage set and notes on stage lighting.
