Scope and Contents
In response to Schenck's letter of June 2, Clarke (Elizabeth Crocker Lawrence) jokes that "Since only a 'major operation' would reduce the 'old lady' to the possible proportion - even though I carry hospital insurance - and so could face such an operation it makes the photograph possibility even more desirable."
