Biographical / Historical

The Office for International Study promotes study abroad opportunities that are in keeping with the educational aims of the college. The office was created in 1925. Among the programs offered are those in Paris (since 1925), Florence (since 1931), Geneva (since 1946) and Hamburg (since 1961). Previously, there were also programs for Spain (1930-1991) and Mexico (1937-1952).The office is also called "Junior Year Abroad" or "Study Abroad".

Abstract

Since 1925, the Office for International Study has promoted study abroad opportunities that are in keeping with the educational aims of the college. Smith College Junior Year for International Studies records consist of correspondence, meeting notes, and photos pertaining to programs in Hamburg and Paris, as well as general office files.
