This collection is open for use without restriction beyond the standard terms and conditions of Smith College Special Collections, with the following exception: Box 3 must be screened by an archivist for student records before being used by researchers. On the recommendation of the Committee to Study the Role of Computers at the College and the Faculty Council, in 1983 Smith President Jill Ker Conway established an overall governance structure, consisting of four committees, to oversee computing on campus. That stucture was revamped in 1988 and has had subsequent updates.
