Biographical / Historical
The Christian Science Organization at Smith College was a student led group that organized lectures and other events intended to spread the ideas of Christian Science. It was founded by Miriam B. Clark (Class of 1904) in 1911 as the Christian Science Society of Smith College, but struggled to gain official recognition from the College until 1916 due to a prohibition against sectarian clubs.
Renamed the Christian Science Organization at Smith College sometime in the 1920s or 1930s, the group remained active until the 1990s.

During accessioning, a complete set of receipts from the 1962-1963 fiscal year was retained as a sample and the rest (all incomplete sets from the 1960s) were discarded.
