Biographical / Historical

Hart-Lester Harris (1891 - 1984) was born in Springfield, Massachusetts on November 7, 1891 to Henrietta (Harris, Class of 1888) and William Harris. She attended Miss Porter's School in Springfield before enrolling at Smith College in 1909. Attending Smith College had become a family tradition as her mother and sisters Ambia (Class of 1919) and Harriet attended.

Hart married Joseph Allen and moved to Holyoke. A son, Covington, was born in 1927. Following her husband's death her son Covington caught ill while travelling and subsequently died. Soon after Harris moved to Florida to enjoy the sun and warmth. She continued to be active in the Alumnae Association until her death in 1984.
