Scope and Contents
The Biological Sciences Department papers contain materials regarding committees, courses, (including Genetics, Marine Biology, Paleobiology, and Zoology) exams, department memos, minutes from department meetings, as well as information and publicity regarding lectures and symposiums sponsored by the department. There is also information regarding the Sigma Xi Society and the H.H. Wilder Collection.

Immediate Source of Acquisition
Early files were maintained by B. Elizabeth Horner and transferred to the Smith College Archives, later files have come directly from the department.

During the processing of the B. Elizabeth Horner papers in 2021, additional material from the department records were found and transferred to this collection. They are all housed in box 15. The majority of the material relates to department memos and the animal quarters.
