B. Elizabeth “Betty” Horner was an educator, biologist, advocate for women and science, and a professor at Smith College where she spent her entire professional life. Her papers document her personal and professional life, especially her research on Australian rodents and her correspondence with colleagues, professional organizations, mentees and students, family, and friends.

Abstract This collection includes letters, diaries, autobiographical writings, and financial papers of the Southworth and Dickinson families of Springfield, Massachusetts, as well as the related Shepard, Boltwood, Thurston, Caffee, Deane, and Browne families. The papers document several generations of middle- and upper-class families residing in Massachusetts, Ohio, North Carolina, Maine, New York, and California. Abstract

The Upton Family papers include materials created by Cornelia Babcock Upton and Winslow Upton, and their two daughters, both graduates of Smith College. This collection includes correspondence, diaries, and notes by Cornelia Upton documenting her travels in America, Hawaii, Alaska, Africa, and the Far East. Bacteriologist Margaret Upton and librarian Eleanor Upton's papers include documents of a children's club in Providence, RI, to which they belonged.
