Scope and Contents

The World YWCA center in the Aqabat Jaber refugee camp provides the women and girls living in the refugee camp with vocational guidance, basic education, nourishment, recreation and a place to belong. Photographs include images of the Queen Mother of Jordan and the Archbishop of Canterbury visiting the center, special mother's day pageants, women and girls participating in classes and recreation activities.

The young girls come to YWCA centers to learn the craft and earn money increasing their chances to reach sefl support. Providing housing, nutrition, education and other essential needs to refugees is a collaborative effort between many organizations. Young women's Christian associations help in these efforts by maintaining centers in camps, providing education opportunity for young children and participating in aid projects.
