The departmental meetings include discussions of the overall program of the Girl Reserve, its relationship to the national organization and how the program is meeting the needs of the young girls it serves. Early meetings prior to the use of the name Girl Reserve work under the title Girl's Work Committee.

The Program Committee of the Teen-age Department of the YWCA of the U.S.A. is responsible for developing the overall program for the teen-age members, communicating the program to local Y-Teen clubs, developing content for conferences and conventions and developing Y-Teen staff. Meetings include discussion of the issues affecting teenagers, conference content and format and program needs. Prior to 1946 the Teen-age Department is the Girl Reserve Department.
