Europe -- Description and travel

This collection consists of twenty letters of Pechin Ingle to her parents Mr. & Mrs. William Ingle, Pigeon Cove, Massachusetts, during her European excursion of June-August 1929. Pechin Ingle accompanied another teacher and eight girls through Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Czechoslovakia, France and England, sailing on the Saturina and Caronia.

Teacher; Traveler; Military spouse. Papers include letters to family while working at Caney Creek Community Center, Pippa Passes, KY (1919); from Puerto Rico; and Hawaii (1940-42) with descriptions of the impact of the Pearl Harbor attack. Also photographs of Puerto Rico (1919-20), and travel diaries of her mother, Carrie Taylor Tuthill, Europe (1892 and 1913).

Authors and Poets. Approximately two thirds of material is correspondence and the rest is writings and drawings. Includes pencil drawings and watercolors, drafts of poems, and one published volume. Some biographical material.
