Pearce family papers
The papers represent the extended Pearce/Brown family involved in education in rural United States and missionary and education work at the Sidon Female Seminary in Syria and elswhere in the Middle East, circa 1880s-1930s. Also represented are Eleanor I. Burns, founder of the American College for Girls in Istanbul; Mary Mills Patrick, founder of Constantinople Women's College; and Alice Lloyd, founder of Caney Junior College in Kentucky.

The report provides historical, economic, religious and political context to the work of the YWCA service centers in Istanbul. In addition, the report summarizes all current activities, describes the structure, organization and leadership of the service centers, and presents recommendations for future development. The report concludes with notes from a discussion of the report at the World YWCA conference in St. Cergue.
