Materials begin with documents regarding an incident of mistreatment of Ms. Barnett, a YWCA secretary, on a train and the subsequent legal activity pursued by Ms. Barnett and the YWCA of the U.S.A. Also included are documents concerning YWCA branch associations for African American women, summaries of civil rights laws and activities, and a report on "Fourteen Civil Rights Studies Made by Local Associations."
